Techniques for Inducing a Lucid Dream
Practice reality checks several times during the day. Also be aware of unusual occurrences during your day that could be possible dream signs. Before you go to sleep, set an intention to lucid dream. Repeat a positive affirmation to yourself such as, "I am great at lucid dreaming!"
When you are in a dream, recognize a dream sign. For example, you bedroom might look completely different. Your furniture could be floating in the air. Now, do a reality check to confirm that you are dreaming. Try pushing your finger through your palm. If it goes through, you are dreaming! Now you are aware that you are dreaming and you can control your dream.

Dreaming Resources
Lucid dreaming involves being aware of your dreams and controlling what happens in them. For example, if you want to be a great writer, you could dream that you are writing smoothly with many ideas. This confidence that you gain from your lucid dreams can carry into your waking life, and when you work towards your goals, you can achieve them.
Below are some strategies for remembering your dreams and inducing lucid
dreams:
Dream Journaling
It is important to keep a dream journal and write down your dreams every morning when you wake up. Write in your dream journal every day, even if you don't remember your dreams. Write, "No dreams recalled." You can write, type, or voice record your dreams. When you go back and read your journal, you may notice meaningful patterns in your dreams, such as recurring dreams or themes (Zugor, 2020). These themes can be very enlightening.
Mindfulness Awareness
Being aware of the present moment and clearing your mind to make room
for subconscious thoughts to come into your conscious mind is vital for
remembering your dreams and also also preparing for lucid dreaming.
Try going for a walk and noticing your surroundings, such as sounds, people
or scenery. Feel the breeze on your skin. Enjoying being in the moment will help you to have more vivid dreams and be more aware in your dreams.
Meditation is also important for preparing for lucid dreaming. Try a simple
breathing exercise. Breathe through your stomach to increase calmness.
Inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. Inhale and
exhale 10 times as this will help with your well-being and awareness of the
present moment.
Reality Checks
Reality checks are checks you can do to see if you are dreaming or awake. For example, one reality check is the finger palm push technique, where you try to push your finger through your palm. If you are dreaming, your finger will go through your palm. If you are awake, it will not. You should do several reality checks throughout the day so that when you are asleep in a dream, you will remember to do them and you can be aware that you are dreaming.
Dream Signs
Dream signs are signs in your dreams that you are dreaming. They are often things that occur regularly in your dreams, are unique to you, and that wouldn't likely happen in waking reality. For example, see the images below. If you were to see a pyramid next to an ocean, this would not be likely to happen in waking life because a pyramid would not likely be right on the ocean shore. However, this would make for a very interesting dream! Imagine being at the top of the pyramid and watching and looking at the view of the beautiful ocean or feeling the waves crashing. This could be a powerful experience!
