My Background
I am a licensed psychologist in California and certified rehabilitation counselor. I have 15 years' experience working with diverse groups, including disabled people. I have a background working in independent living centers, university settings, community support programs, hospitals, clinics, and forensic settings. I'm also a researcher and writer, and I write on topics such as disability, aging, recovery from internalized oppression, self-esteem, and empowerment of marginalized groups. I was born with a hearing impairment, and as a disabled woman, my passion is to work with people who have faced struggles, and facilitate them achieving their dreams.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, posttraumatic stress disorder, stress related to disability and other discrimination, emotional abuse, grief, chronic illness, chronic pain, losses, and life change. My interests are in social justice, coping with discrimination, trauma, chronic illness, life course development, disability and aging, personal growth, vocational rehabilitation, health and wellness, and resilience.
I have a Ph.D. in Psychology with Specialization in Existential, Humanistic, and Transpersonal Psychology from Saybrook University. I also hold a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, an M.S. in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. in Disability, Health and Illness from the University of Leeds, and bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Comparative History of Ideas from the University of Washington, Seattle. I specialize in dream analysis and lucid dreaming therapy.
What drew me to therapy was my interest in social justice work while I was attending the University of Washington for my undergraduate education, and did peer counseling with students. I have always been interested in helping people, I enjoy hearing people’s stories, and I also find that in the therapeutic process I learn more about myself. Through my therapy journey I have gained much experience in working with diverse people. In addition, during my time at Saybrook University, I received training in spiritual approaches in therapy, and dream analysis and lucid dreaming therapy. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, arts and crafts, traveling, outdoor activities, talking with friends and family, and of course, lucid dreaming. I'm glad you are moving towards living a more fulfilling and happier life, and I am here to support you so you can empower yourself on your journey of transformation.
